A Brief History of Tibetan Buddhism

Buddhism was founded by Siddhartha Gautama, known as Buddha Shakyamuni or the historical Buddha, over 2500 years ago. The Buddha was an Indian prince who left his privileged life in search of enlightenment.  He reached the highest level of enlightenment at the age of 35. He went on to travel around Northern India to teach what he had learned to his followers and others for the next 40 years. After his death, his teachings were preserved by his followers. Read more
